Global Ports Holding appointed Timo A. Schön to the role of GM at Bremerhaven Cruise Port.

He brings over two decades of leadership experience in the maritime industry. Most recently, he served as CEO of Jade-Dienst in Wilhelmshaven, Germany

‘His extensive experience and proven leadership in the maritime industry will be invaluable as we develop Bremerhaven Cruise Port, our first port in Germany,’ Stephen Xuereb, COO of Global Ports Holding, explained. ‘We are confident that under his guidance, Bremerhaven Cruise Port will achieve new heights of success and operational excellence.’

GPH was awarded a 10-year concession for Bremerhaven Cruise Port with a potential five-year extension option in 2023. It marks a significant milestone for GPH as it expands its presence in the Northern Europe cruise market. In April, GPH signed a 50-year agreement with Peel Ports Group’s subsidiary The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company to operate cruise services in Liverpool.

During Schön’s time at Jade-Dienst, from June 2020, he expanded its services significantly, adding mooring, port forwarding, vessel supplies, MARPOL I waste disposal, marine engine repairs, maritime steel locksmith services, and terminal operations to its portfolio. He also led the spin-off of a marine propulsion division and founded a subsidiary focused on offshore services.

Before his role at Jade-Dienst, Schön was MD at Seaports of Niedersachsen. Schön has also held top management positions in shipbroking and agency services along the European coast, including key roles at Frachtcontor Junge & Co. as well as Karl Geuther.

‘...This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of GPH’s first port in Germany,’ said Schön. ‘I look forward to working with the GPH team and local stakeholders to create a world-class cruise port experience for passengers and cruise lines alike.’

His experience further includes being a partner at FCJ Partner Beteiligungsges and serving on the supervisory board of the Bremerhaven Cruise Terminal.
