Fincantieri continues its long-running series of ships for Viking
Fincantieri announced orders for two Viking ship deliveries, one in 2028 and 2029, which are believed to have already been disclosed.

Fincantieri did not report a price but said the value is 'large,' which the builder defines as between 500m and €1b.

These are 54,300gt ships with capacity for 998 passengers, continuing Viking's long-running series, with this year's Viking Vela the first in this slightly larger design that complies with new stability regulations.

Two orders for 2029 delivery previously announced

During the company's first earnings call last month, CFO Leah Talactac said Viking had firmed options for two more deliveries in 2029, bringing its orderbook to eight ships.

Fincantieri CEO/Managing Director Pierroberto Folgiero said the order 'further cements our relationship with Viking and establishes Fincantieri as the partner of choice for shipowners looking to build vessels fit for both current and future energy sources.' He added: 'Together, Fincantieri and Viking are leading the shipping industry in the path to net zero.'

No specifics were provided but Viking and Fincantieri have been testing and developing a hydrogen fuel cell module since 2022's Viking Neptune
